📝 Essential Moving Day Preparation Guide
Preparing for moving day ensures a fast, safe, and stress-free relocation for you and our team. Follow this checklist to get ready!
1. Packing & Box Prep
- Seal All Boxes: Ensure all box tops are fully closed and taped flat with heavy-duty packing tape.
- Label Clearly: Mark the destination room and brief contents on the top and sides of every box.
- Mark Fragiles: Place bold “FRAGILE” and “THIS SIDE UP” labels on delicate items.
- Weight Rule: Pack heavy items (books, tools) in small boxes and light items (linens, pillows) in large boxes.
2. Furniture & Major Appliances
- Empty Drawers: Please empty all dressers, nightstands, and desks to protect the furniture frames during transit.
- Unplug Appliances: Disconnect and dry out refrigerators and washing machines at least 24 hours prior to move day.
- Disassemble Furniture: Unbolt bed frames or table legs where needed, and keep screws/hardware in a sealed bag.
3. What NOT to Pack (Keep with You)
- Important Documents: Passports, medical records, deeds, and insurance files.
- High Valuables: Jewelry, cash, laptops, and family heirlooms.
- Prohibited Items: Hazardous materials like paint, propane, gas, batteries, or cleaning chemicals.
- Day 1 Bag: Pack daily meds, basic toiletries, phone chargers, and a change of clothes in your personal vehicle.
4. Access & Safety Setup
- Clear Pathways: Keep driveways, walkways, and stairs clear of ice, snow, and clutter.
- Reserve Parking: Ensure a dedicated parking spot or loading zone is clear for the moving truck.
- Secure Pets & Kids: Keep pets in a quiet, closed room and children safely clear of heavy lifting areas.
